Wings

We spotted this delightful butterfly in the lava beds near Fish Lake in the Oregon Cascades, August 2005.

The book of Acts tells us about Paul and Silas being thrown into prison. Their shackles fell to the ground and the prison doors broke open after they began praising God.

God doesn't need our praise -- we need the transformation that occurs when we praise Him.
Praise metamorphoses the temporal to be able to touch the eternal.
Praise declares: I stand firm trusting a God who sees infinitely beyond my finite gaze.
Praise gives us wings when bitterness or grief threatens to hold our heart in a chrysalis forever.

"Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
When I said, 'My foot is slipping,' your love, O LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul." Psalms 94:17-19 NIV

The reduced resolution for this web site obscures the scripture reference placed in the upper left portion of this image quoting Psalms 142:7(NIV): "Set me free from my prison, that I may praise your name."
It appears much clearer in the actual image and can be read from a distance of about 3 feet.
